I love to read….but don’t often take the time. I really try every summer to do a great deal of reading. Yesterday as my first official duty of the last day of school ( Yipee!! Yay!!! Ahhhhhhhhh! Sorry, that is me momentarily going crazy ‘cuz school is out!!) I went to our local library and checked out a TON of books. As a matter of fact, The Inventor fell asleep last night with her light on and a book covering her head! A good way to start the summer.
So I am looking for suggestions for summer books…… I tend to like non-fiction, but I must admit, I did check out a book by Karen Kingsbury, “Between Sundays” and started to read that last night. I am enjoying it.
I am not much of a girly girl when it comes to fiction reading, I tend to like sports, action more guy stuff, but like I said I have read several Karen Kingsbury books lately, and have enjoyed them. I also tend to stick to christian themed books, but I did read several John Grisham books in the past. So ladies….what do you suggest, what have your read lately that you have loved? I have been out of the book loop, so bring me back into the loop and please leave some suggestions or personal favorites.

i highly recommend Til We Have Faces by CS Lewis–it’s beautiful (and :cough: where i get my blog name from!!). if you’ve never read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, it’s great as well, tho due to the romance much girlier than you prefer (but it reallllllly is meaninful). i’m the opposite of you, nut much of a nonfiction reader, but i enjoyed the history of the senses (author blanking on me now). i’ll peruse my bookshelves and come back to you if you want more suggestions!
I love historical fiction. One of my favorites is the Song of Acadia series by T. Davis Bunn. Anything C.S. Lewis or Elisabeth Elliot are inspiring. Have a great summer!
Your mom enjoys books by Debbie Macomber. They usually take place in the country and are simple reads…….good books for the summer. AND you are definitely on the right track with Karen Kingsbury. Happy Summer Sammie Sue, ( I love you). MOM
I would highly recommend reading One Foot in the Black. This was a very touching story about a young man overcoming an abusive father as well as surmounting the challenges of becoming a firefighter. I absolutely loved it and would read it again.

The Mark of the Lion trilogy by Francine Rivers: A Voice in the Wind, An Echo in the Darkness, and As Sure as the Dawn, The Testament (John Grisham), The Innocent Man (John Grisham), A Wrinkle in Time (Madeleine L’Engle), Chronicles of Narnia (CS Lewis), CS Lewis’ Space Trilogy-Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, That Hideous Strength, Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte), and Pride & Prejudice (Jane Austen). If you need more suggestions, let me know. And if you read any of these, let me know what you think of them.
I LOVE the James Patterson but they are definitely secular!

I’m currently reading, Hind’s Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard. It’s a fantastic Christian allegory similar to Bunyon’s Pligim’s Progress. This is the third time I’m reading it!!!

I thought I had commented on this post. Wow, can’t believe I didn’t. Do like anything to read or lighter fare for the summer. Last year I loved “Uncharted” by Angela Hunt. If you like a chick lit kind of book “These boots weren’t made for walking” by Melody Carlson is good. I love the “O’Malley Series” by Dee Henderson.
