#1 – As I glanced at yesterday’s newspaper I noticed on the 2nd page a sad and disturbing photo of survivors of the cyclone in Bangledesh. They were desperate for food, and fighting to get food at a distribution center. I thought to myself what a contrast…..here we are sitting down for a huge Thanksgiving meal where we will be stuffed to the rim, and they are fighting for a meager amount of rice in Bangledesh! As I always say, we have it good in America!
#2 – Falling out of that same newspaper were ads galore! The top banner on my paper proudly proclaimed “our biggest advertising section ever!” Has black Friday become a holiday also? Our local mall opened at 4AM, the local outlets opened at midnight! Did any of you head out to the black friday sales, was it worth it? Just curious how it went. For all you diehard shoppers, I hate to say, but I was really enjoying a good nights sleep. 🙂
#3 – It was a beautiful morning here yesterday with very warm temps for this time of year. I went for a long bike ride. I took a very hilly route, that stretched for a little over 8 miles. And yes it was exercise, but it was very pleasant. I saw lots of neighbors out walking with friends and family. It just warmed my heart to see so many people out enjoying the day together. It was also such a gorgeous day out, and despite the fact that after conquering the one agonizing hill, I felt as if my heart was about to pop out of my body, I did enjoy myself.
#4- I am thankful for spell checker!
#5 – I am planning to put up our Christmas tree today, and decorate for Christmas. I always say if I am going to put all that work into decorating for Christmas, I am going to do it early so we can enjoy it longer!
#6- Oh and what do you think of the new blog design? I am just playing around with it and may change it again. I liked the browness ( I know it’s not a word!) of the other one, since I thought it reflected chocolate well, but I didn’t like the set up.
So Happy Belated Thanksgiving, Happy Black Friday….and an early Merry Christmas to all!
The Retailer’s Prayer
Our Retailer, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Sales;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
at the mall as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily coupons,
and forgive us our frugality,
as we forgive those hardcore shoppers who get there
before us; and lead us not into debt on Black Friday,
but deliver us our online purchases before the 15th
of December. Amen.
The Bliggity No Diggity Blog-a-Log
The Princess and I were out at about 5am. There were some good sales… though not as many people as I expected. I did my grocery shopping at “Wally World” at about 6:30am – I was just about the only one on that side of the store!!! I loved it. The Princess got a wool Pea Coat from Khol’s for a bargain (it was like 65% off!!). Didn’t get anything else… oh, some fingerless gloves, but they aren’t made really well… I think I will be knitting some new ones. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
