The Creation Festival is a special thing in so many ways. The first probably being a passionate crowd of 50,000-60,000 people standing to worship Jesus along side a hill in the middle of a field, in the middle of nowhere!
But there is so much else that occurs there. I want to share just a SMALL part of how God used the festival in our lives. We were just there for one day this year, but we enjoyed our time immensely. The Inventor enjoyed checking out the “tween” group Pure NRG. They have great lyrics and high energy that seem a perfect fit for the 10-12 year old crowd.
SportTman’s favorite band is Pillar and he and Drums were quite pumped for their afternoon show on the main stage. Drums also likes their music, and they both think their drummer, Lester, is a gifted and talented drummer. So as Drums and SportTman rushed the stage like groupies, The Inventor and I sat on our blankets to watch the rockin show. Let me tell you I really enjoyed the rockin music and the lead singer of the band spoke to my heart! He spoke of having a reckless abandon in living for Christ. He reminded us that we are in a spiritual battle and there are many forces trying to bring us down.
I quickly realized that I am battle weary and am not living with any kind of reckless abandon. The busyness of life, and daily gossip and endless chatter about others at work, the influence of culture, all have put huge chinks in my battle armor. I am weary from living a life fully immersed in the world. It’s hard, it wears me down.
But the band Pillar brought it all back into perspective for me. It is a battle and I need to spend more time relying on God’s armor and stop trying to use the cheap, shoddy armor that I claim as mine, it’s mine and not Gods and it’s really not been very effective!
I need to live a life of more reckless abandon and keep my focus more on Godly matters and be less consumed with the culture I live in. How can I affect culture, instead of, how does culture affect me?….that is the question I am now working on in my life.
And that is the beauty of the Creation Festival, a band like Pillar can minister to a 44 year old mom. I am certain I am not their typical fan, but that is also the beauty of the power of God!
Here is one of my favorite Pillar songs for all you rockin moms out there. Come on put that fist in the air, jump a few times…………………………then go and finish your laundry! š
Pillar – For the Love of the Game- not the greatest quality, but still a fun song.
Amy and Beautiful Grace – I lost your comments when I switched the video. Sorry! I did read them , they were not lost. Thanks! š
From Amy – Hi Sandy, I’m glad you had such a good time this weekend! I couldn’t get the video to play. Maybe I’ll check them out on YouTube. I like to r.o.c.k.!!
I’m having a blah day too. Mom told me a friend died this weekend from cancer. He also had Crohn’s disease all his life. When we were teenagers we were on Prednisone (steroid) and it makes your face really round. We used to measure our heads to see who had the biggest one! LOL. I’m struggling though because I don’t know if he ever accepted Christ as his Savior. He was just 45 years old. Would you please keep the Campbell family in your prayers? I know his mom and dad are not saved.Thank you!
Now I’m going to go and check out the rest of the festival pics!
From Beautiful Grace –
Yeah, SporTman!!! Rock on in Jesus!!!
Awesome! Loved reading your thoughts about being affected by our culture. I feel the same way sometimes!
We’re hoping to get to SoulFest in NH this summer for the Newsboys…our absolute fave band!
