Giving Thanks!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving…….I am cooking, and I am close to being ready.  I made this Y-U-M-M-Y Cranberry Shortbread last night, and of course I snitched a little bit of it fresh out the oven!  Shhh don’t tell anyone, no one will ever notice the little missing spot! 🙂

And tomorrow I am making apple crisp, mashed potatoes, turkey, gravy, corn casserole and lots of the other  traditional fixins.  It should be a nice day, filled with food, fun, football, and FAMILY.

But I am thinking there is so much more to the day then food and family.  I  had such a bad attitude about work this week, and that attitude had trickled into my home life also.  I have been far from thankful for much of anything.  But last night while out for my usual power walk, I was praying about my attitude.   I was praying about being better NOT bitter!  And as I prayed, and prayed, and prayed ( this attitude was pretty stubborn) my  attitude began to disappear.  And suddenly I could actually think in terms of truly being thankful.

I realized once again that being thankful is a attitude.  How is your attitude this THANKSgiving?

I am truly thankful for simply being able to BE thankful! 🙂

  1. Happy Thanksgiving Sandy! Oh my week at work was beyond bad..with my attitude. There is something about the holiday season that makes me not so myself. I have yet to put my finger on it…but it wears me out trying to fake it! This is the first holiday in several years where I am not in charge and it feels good… I hope you continue to gleam the goodness!

PS: instead of being a shopping fool I am doing paperwork this weekend! ack!

  2. We’ve had some really intense things happen this last week in the life of family members. It really puts things in perspective. All the food seems kind of secondary to having those family members around you who so easily might not have been. Better not bitter, is a good way to put it. God is good and faithful to teach us through any circumstance. Happy Belated Thanksgiving.

  3. Sandy,
Hi! I noticed you were following me on Twitter. (so, I looked up your blog, haha!) It is crazy how much we have in common. I taught special education for 17 yrs.–before deciding to home school. I have an 18 yr. old step son, 14 yr. old son, and a 14 yr. old daughter. I’m a Christian. I love to blog, love chocolate and love to power walk! This particular blog entry really got me, because that is exactly what I was thinking while walking the other day…about being “better not bitter”.

Well, I just thought I’d touch base with you. I look forward to twittering….and reading your blog.
BTW, I now live in Ohio but my most of my family lives in MD. and PA. Are you anywhere near York?
    TTYL, Dawn

  4. It is true my friend that it is all about attitude. We have to choose to be thankful and not bitter. That’s a hard lesson to learn sometimes.

Thanks for sharing! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and your week is off to a good start! Take care my friend!
