Friday Fave Five

Well it has been a glorious week for this teacher!

My number ONE favorite of the week was;

I am also enjoying my simple, little herb container garden.  I planted dill, rosemary and chives.  They are thriving and I just love stepping out onto the deck to cut a bit of fresh herbs for the things I am cooking!  I feel like a cool, pioneer kind of women! Ha Ha

SportTman broke his pinky finger diving for a baseball in center field.   It makes my Friday Faves since he has a huge baseball tournament coming up in Omaha, NE in 10 days,  I wanted to be sure he could still play so I took him to a sports orthopedic specialist.  He made this funky cast for him so he can still throw a baseball this week, and he thinks he will be ready for Omaha! Phew!

My woods is another favorite.  Drums just mowed the weed field that it had become, and it looks lovely!!  I just love to spend time out there praying, relaxing, checking out the wildlife, picking berries, walking the little trail we made etc.  We have all been back there so much more now that it has been mowed.  This is the view from our deck.

The Inventor and her friends also make my list this week.  They got out of school early their last day of school and took over my kitchen while I was still at school.  Well did I come home to a wonderful treat.  They cooked a delicious dinner of twice baked potatoes with cheese, bacon and onion, blueberry crepes and a fresh salad and a homemade blueberry milkshake!  It was so good, and they even cleaned up!!  Wow….I love those girls!

  1. What a great week! I especially love the surprise blessings, like the special cast for SportTman and the dinner prepared by the Inventor and her friends!

  2. Sounds like a great week. I would LOVE coming home to a prepared dinner, especially one that looks that delicious. I am teaching my little ones to cook, so maybe one day….

  3. I’m so glad school is out, too! You sure did have to go a long time, but I’m guessing you won’t start back at the first of August like we will. 🙂 I love spending time outside, too. A huge blessing. We had a new neighborhood across the street tear down lots of big trees this week and it broke my heart.

Hope you’re enjoying your strawberry jam. That’s the recipe I use, too, and it makes life easy for me. And it is delicious.
    Have a great weekend!

  4. What a fun surprise to have them cook dinner AND clean up afterwards!

And what a blessing the woods must be. I always feel so close to God when I’m outside and in my mind those woods are quiet, cool and still.

  5. Even as a parent I am glad school is out, as well.

What a blessing to have someone else make dinner AND clean up!!

My son just bought a basil plant, and I’ve had that same sort of feeling with it. We’re not so good with plants, but it has done well.

Ouch for SporTman — glad he’ll still be able to pitch, though.

Our previous house had a woodsy area in back, and I loved it.

  6. Dinner cooked for you sounds heavenly. Maybe my boys will do that some day, but they are still a bit young at the moment.

Enjoy your woods, too. Our wooded lot needs a bunch of raking as no one cared for the yard while it was on the market all last year. Tons of work before it’ll look as nice as yours.

  7. YAY that school is out, and you can enjoy your peaceful, pretty woods, your kids’ activities and ballgames despite the broken finger. I love your little herb garden – I need to plant my herb pot since I finally got some flowers planted. Thanks for sharing your week. Have a fun time at the ball tournament!

  8. BLUEBERRY CREPES AND NO MORE SCHOOL???? ok, are you trying to make me jealous?? lol
I have THREE more days and then we are DONE…I already have a picnic and day at Lake George planned for one week from today! I swear, if it rains, I am going anyways! haha…

love the woods….looks nice…that is some cast, too on that finger!

Let me know if you are coming up to NYS this year….

  9. Its always nice when school gets out, the change of schedule is wonderful.

And how nice to come home to a wonderful homemade dinner! Sounds wonderful.

  10. Dinner and clean up? What a blessing. And it sounds delicious to boot.

So glad SporTman can still play. That would have been disappointing for him.

  11. A hearty amen to the School’s Out sentiment!

Gee, I’d love a friend who took over my kitchen! How nice.

Your son can pitch with that cast? Wow.

And the view from your deck is so peaceful looking. Have a great week ahead.

  12. I love your little container garden. How nice to just be able to walk outside and clip off some herbs. Have a great week.

  13. Hi Sandy, I really enjoyed the family photo!!! I hope you have a great summer. You have started out really good with a dinner all ready for you. I would imagine your woods is really a haven. Being in Texas we are lucky to see a tree! We are doing fine, had a great time with your folks this spring. We need a family reunion!! I hope Tyler will be ready for his tournament. Love to all, Aunt C.

  14. Wow! Sounds like a wonderful week you had. Your daughter and her friends did it up right! ~ Hope your son heals up nicely! Have a great week!

  15. Goodness look at all these comments. I can’t believe that I am 19. So sorry. It has been crazy around here. I am loving that cool cast. So glad that sportTman can still play. Woo hoo. I love it when my daughter makes things in the kitchen too. Sounds like your treat was a yummy one.
    Happy Summer
