Yesterday was a tough one!!!!!
Curt shared with each of his classes that he was taking a medical leave and would not be returning to teaching after the Thanksgiving break. He told the students the last 5 min. of each class and I was fortunate enough to be able to run down to his classroom and be with him when he told the students.
It was so endearing! Many of the students cried as he told them. At the end of class many of the girls would so sweetly ask him if it’s ok for them to hug him. The guys did the cool man hug thing with him. He received several quickly scribbled together cards, laced with such poignant and endearing words. Even 2 of his all time worst students gave him the kindest cards, filled kind and gracious words for their teacher. By the end of the day many students were lined up at his classroom door to say good-bye, even students from previous years started showing up. One sweet girl came down and said she wanted to help him and offered to wash his chalkboards.
And of course there was LOTS of junk food gifts from his fellow faculty members…..that should reveal something about my sweet husband’s eating habits to you! 🙂

I’ve not been keeping up with many blogs recently and just now read your recent posts … I’m so sorry about what you, Curt and your family is going through. I don’t know what to say … praying for you all!
Thanks for sharing this Sandy! I am still praying for you all. Let me know via FB if you want my moms group to lift you all up. And what a testimony for Curt’s students, and yours, and the other faculty. I like your heart attitude amidst this struggle……you are planting seeds in others’ hearts whether you know it or not. Obviously, Curt has touched the hearts of the kids he has taught. I am sure he was very relieved to get through the day -but I bet you were both exhausted. I will pray for you and hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

What a precious gift of love his students gave him! Obviously he’s touched many young people’s lives. Praying that God renews you both and refreshes you after this difficult day and I’m still praying for Curt and your family.
I’m grateful for the love that was expressed to him on such a difficult day! I am keeping you in my prayers and have added you to my prayer journal to remember to pray every day. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving day together!
I feel blessed just reading about the wonderful friends you are surrounded by. 🙂 I’m blessed, too, by the example of your faith. I’m praying that God will wrap your family tightly in his grace, and that you all will continue to claim the joy in the little things.
