Party time ladies, time to kick off those shoes, pour yourself a cup of coffee, and read some new blogs!! πŸ™‚

So…….WELCOME to my little corner of the blog world. Thanks for stopping by. Now if you were stopping by my house I would probably pour you some coffee ( or tea if you prefer), offer you something chocolate to eat, and sit and chat with you. So tell me about yourself……how many kids do you have? How is this crazy thing called motherhood going for you? Do you like chocolate? Do you suffer from the frustrations of PMS? What is hardest for you as a mom? What do you enjoy most about being a mom? How long have you been married? What do you do to have fun and cut loose a bit? So please leave a comment, and answer a questionΒ  or two, so I can get to know you also. πŸ™‚

As for me, I have 2 children SportTman is 13, and as you may have guessed, he is a sports boy. He plays middle school soccer, basketball, and AAU baseball. He also plays drums, and I need to go get him up right now, so he can go to a rehearsal for a children’s ministry program he play drums for Sunday at church…be right back.

I also have a dear, thoughtful and very helpful 10 year old ( soon to be 11) daughter. I call her The Inventor, because she is constantly inventing things to make our lives easier. Just yesterday she gave my tiny laundry room a makeover, and installed a small, plastic candy vending machine ( nothing fancy, it’s from Wal-Mart), in my laundry room. Now when I get tired of doing laundry, I can eat chocolate!!!!!!!! πŸ™‚ She also plays soccer year round, is a great runner, and has been taking piano lessons for 2 years.

Drums is my hubby, and yes he also plays drums. If you came by my house, you can imagine it would be a LOUD party!! πŸ™‚ Drums is a public school high school social studies teacher, and a great worship drummer. He plays drums for so many different events in our area I loose track. He also plays for our church worship team. We have been married for 18 years!!

I am also a public school teacher special ed teacher, Drums and I teach at the same school, and it’s in the same school district our kids attend. I was a SAHM for 5 years, and then taught part time for 4 years. This is my first year back working full time. It’s busy, but it really helps that we are all in the same school district. I also teach my son’s Jr. High Sunday school class, and my daughter’s Girl’s Alive class on Wed. nights.

It all makes for a busy life. But we are always looking for opportunities to be a light for the Lord in our community. We are a family that is truly blessed and we look for ways to honor God in all we do! πŸ™‚

Thanks for visiting, Sandy

  1. πŸ™‚ Hi! Thanks for the comment!

I, as you read, have two kids. But I do not like chocolate. I know. Weird. Motherhood has its ups and its downs. The hardest thing is missing my daughter and our angel baby. But, oh, I love the laughter of my boys! πŸ™‚

    Happy blogging!

  2. well, i picked your blog to visit because of the name….jesus and chocolate are two things that i too love! thanks for the party intro. I am the mom of two small children – daughter 4 and son 9 months. I am a SAHM but I occasionally have to work in our insurance office (often with kids in tow – they have a playroom there). Right now, my biggest challenge right now is getting any time for myself! hope you get time to come by our party!

  3. Thanks for inviting me to your party. I am also a special education teacher. This is my first year working for a public school – I worked in a Collaborative before. I think it is cute that you and your husband work at the same school – and how nice to be in the same district as your kids. πŸ™‚ I also love the idea of a candy machine over by my laundry area. Your daughter sounds like a smart girl!

  4. nicetameetcha! i’m jayedee, mom of 12, living in the sunshine state! party on dudette! lol. if you love chickens (and what woman doesn’t love chickens?) check out the awesome giveaway on my blog this week!

  5. Wow, I can’t believe I’m the first one to visit!!! I’m so thrilled that you invited all of us! I have a tendency to hunt through the “linky” list at 5MFM for the unique and fun names (terrible I know) and your’s caught my eye!

Excuse me! I totally forgot to introduce myself . . . my name is Shera and I’m the mommy behind http://www.AFrogInMySoup.com. I have 6 sons and a wonderful hubby, so as you can imagine I’m just a tad outnumbered in my house! I love being a mom although life with twins (just turned 2) can be a roller coaster. Hubby and I have been married for 14 years and our sons are 12, 9, 8, 4 & 2 year old twins. I love chocolate!!! And yes, I do struggle to some extent with PMS it tends to be a bit erratic though, so I know I don’t have it nearly as bad as others.

Well, enough about me. I have already read through a few other posts here and I have to say that I truly have enjoyed it and will be back for more. I think that is the most exciting and fun part about this party . . . meeting all the other fabulous bloggers!!!!!

Feel free to drop in and leave me a novel for revenge (LOL)!
    Blessings!
    Shera

  6. Love your site! And the name! Jesus and Dark Chocolate – “now there’s a woman who knows life’s priorities” I thought when I saw it! And coffee too!

Stop by my blog – we have some similarities! Our kids are almost the same ages (my boy’s 14 and girl is 12), and we have our 20th anniversary this summer.) My girl takes piano too. She is a Music Lover. (capitalized on purpose!)

    Thanks for the party!

  7. WOW are you a busy women. Nice to meet you! And big, big props for being an educator – it’s the most important job in the world.

  8. Well I chose your blog because I couldn’t live without Jesus and dark chocolate in my life! Great party post. I have been married 14 years. My ds is in an LD class at his school and I marvel at how well his teacher does with him and the others. She is a saint and so are you for working with these kids. Having Christian teachers in the public school system is great to hear. Come and stop by and see what’s happening in my part of the states!

  9. The hardest part about being a mom? Is not knowing if I can be a Mom. How long have I been married? almost 4 years. AND THIS is my first virtual party! Thanks for the peppermint tea and chocolate. I love anything chocolate-I think- and peppermint tea is my favourite, I’m glad you had some. πŸ™‚ I’ve been a Jesus kid since 1983 and He IS a GREAT Father! Always looking out for us, isn’t he? Well I’m off mingling now…it was nice to have met you.

  10. Hey there!! What a party you have going on… I think this is soooo much fun.

You probably know by now that I have 4 kids and that I homeschool two of them. It makes being a Mom a more… hmmmm…. intense endeavor. But, we have a lot of fun. I L.O.V.E chocolate!!! The darker the better. LOL – yes, I do suffer from PMS (my husband would completely agree). The hardest thing for me about being a mom is watching my oldest DS grow up to adulthood and make choices that aren’t good ones. It has been very, very hard. I love all of the little things… how they see and describe their world… and giggles, I love when they giggle.

My DH and I will be married 10 years on the 28th of this month. Boy this is a hard one… I would have to say snuggling up with my hubby after the kids are in bed and watching a good movie. Weather permitting, we love to hike, fish or generally be outside.

    Thanks for the party!!!

  11. hello. The Jesus and dark chocolate caught my eye. You have a really busy life like me. I noticed you like coffee and chocolate. So do I. So I think you should drop by my blog party. I have a recipe for a cafe mocha. I also have a picture of my coffee machine which is the live of my life (joking) . I also review books. For this week I’ve got a contest going. Its called “how well read are you?” The prize is a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.

    Hope you can drop by!!

  12. Hey there! I love Jesus and dark chocolate too!

AND I’m a public school Speech Path! Check out my blog where I’m trying to post about my work. I’d love ideas about other things to write about!

  13. oh,i so enjoyed reading your blog!! it reads like a breath of fresh air! i think i will bookmark you so i can read more at leisure (soemthing that is a luxury for me as i am a nursing mama to a 3 mo old when i’m not chasing down my 20 mo old!). i love jesus and chocolate, so i think we’re destined to be bloggy friends!! there have been times in my life where i definitely loved chocolate more!! LOL and i am one of those weirdos who actually PREFERS (gasp) the dry, nondairy creamer in her coffee.. i just grew up that way. but i’m like you, i’d just as soon take a cup of joe than a fancy-schmancy latte or whatever. so stop on by my party…

  15. Sandy,

You are one very blessed lady! Your family picture is so beautiful and I love reading about each of your interests. I have a drummer boy in my house too…he turns 12 on Tuesday. My oldest is a sports and guitar guy, so although I don’t have any girls in my house it is always full of music, sports, and other boys. (They seems to gravitate in packs, don’t they?)

It is so nice to meet you and I am looking forward to getting to know you and your blog more. I would love for you to stop by and visit me in Mel’s World when you get some time.

    Have a great day!
    Melissa πŸ˜‰

  16. Hello! I’m the mom/stepmom of five – Matthew, Dylan, Michael, Morgan & Emily. They’re all terrific & make us smile in multiple ways. Matt is a massage therapist who is generally enjoying the life of a young, single man. Dylan is a senior in high school – about to turn 18 & is involved in track & field; Michael is 16, a sophomore in high school & is very active in ROTC & the rough riders (drill team affiliated with ROTC); Morgan is 12, in 7th grade, and is an incredible athlete – she excels at basketball & also does very well in softball; Emily is 9 & is super-smart & very outgoing. She’s looking forward to getting involved in cheerleading soon. Troy & I have been married for seven years – he’s a firefighter/paramedic & president of his local union. I’m incredibly proud of him & try to support him in every way possible – he’s truly my hero πŸ™‚ I’m a paralegal & am working toward a bachelor’s degree in health care administration right now.

  17. How many kids do you have? Two boys, Consecrated, 18 years old and Fire, 14 years old.

Consecrated is a senior this year and has been home educated since 2nd grade. Prior to that he attended a local Christian school. He has the gift of music…he plays the guitars- bass, electric, acoustic. He plays on the youth worship team at our church and occasionally does something special like the Christian Battle of the Bands (Which, BTW, Sandy your family is invited to).

Fire is a freshman this year and has been home educated since the beginning of his school experience. He also has the gift of music…he plays the drums on our church’s youth and middle school worship team. He also enjoys soccer!!!

How is this crazy thing called motherhood going for you?
I love my boys!!!! They are the most wonderful blessings Jesus has given me. As far as motherhood and its responsibilites…sometimes that’s hard.

    Do you like chocolate? Absolutely!!!

Do you suffer from the frustrations of PMS? Yes, some months are more noticeable than others. This month was a doozy!!! Ouchy cramps, bloated stomach, fatigue…you get the picture. :0

What is hardest for you as a mom?
When discipline is perceived as lack of love

What do you enjoy most about being a mom?
I love snuggling my boys, however, that has changed a bit since they are older. When I want to be close to Fire I start play fighting as though I’m a ninja on the attack.

How long have you been married?
Strongman and I will be married 24 years this September.

What do you do to have fun and cut loose a bit?
I love to worship Jesus through dancing and singing.

  18. Yah! Super fun party here…LOVE your blog title…2 of the best things in the world (plus family)…love all 3! Been married for 8 1/2 yrs, have a boy (6) and a girl (4)…biggest challenge of parenthood for me is consistancy. But I LOVE being a SAHM and in the fall am trying to get into the public school system so that my schedule matches the kids. πŸ™‚ Happy to meet you, God bless your week!! πŸ˜€

  19. Hi, Sandy — it’s nice to meet you! What a great looking family! I’ve really enjoyed browsing thru your posts. I’ll be back soon!

    Enjoy the party!

  20. Hi Sandy! It’s nice to meet you. I love Jesus and I love chocolate! I have 3 kids, and I am a teacher, too (albeit a homeschool teacher!) My daughter is 10, also and loves to create things, too…
I would love to sit and relax with a cup of coffee and a good book, if only I had 5 spare minutes…can’t seem to get anywhere by myself these days! πŸ™‚ Stop on over sometime! Have fun at the party!

  21. Just stopping by for the party – your blog title mentioned two of my favorite things in life so I had to stop by!

I’m loving the adventure of Motherhood – it is definitely challenging

  22. Sandy,

It’s so nice to meet you. I want to answer the questions that you asked…

How many kids do you have? One 14 year old son, but we really REALLY want more…we just haven’t been able to get pregnant. So now we are turning our hopes and effors to adoption, although we are not totally giving up on getting pregnant.

How is this crazy thing called motherhood going for you? Some days I feel like a TOTAL failure at it! I homeschool, and have a home business, and it seems like the business (and computer) gets more attention than my son. I am really trying to change this.

Do you like chocolate? What’s not to like? Is there a Chocoholics Anonymous group that I can join?

Do you suffer from the frustrations of PMS? Yes, and my hubby is so patient and loving through it all. Even when I get snippy!

What is hardest for you as a mom? Balancing my time wisely so that my son gets quality time with me. Also, my son is a special needs teen due to heart and stroke issues as a baby/toddler. It breaks my heart to see that he has no friends at church, in his own peer group. His best friend is a 27 year old guy who is our very close friend…he’s like an uncle to our son. Oh yeah, and we will probably be putting him in public school for the very first time next year. I’m a little terrified! But he’s excited!

What do you enjoy most about being a mom? I love the proud moments…when he does something that shows the love of Jesus in his heart. He is such a compassionate and generous young man, and I love to see how God is working in him. I also love that he will still kiss me and hug me in public, even though he’s 14!

How long have you been married? Well, this Saturday (3/15), it will be 4 years! I met my hubby on eHarmony, and we knew before we even met in person that we wanted to be married. God totally orchestrated our relationship/courtship/marriage!

What do you do to have fun and cut loose a bit? I like to go fishing with my hubby and son. But to cut loose, I meet with 7 other women, one Friday night a month. They are all from our church, various ages. We have about 5-6 hours of time to just eat, chat, laugh, cry, whatever we feel like doing, and it’s some of the best 5-6 hours of my month! God has really blessed me with some Godly girlfriends…some even older than my own mom!

I hope that you can come on over to The Downtown Boutique and party with us. We’re even giving gifts! It’s the second post down…

    Angie

  24. Nice to meet you. I’m a SAHM to 2 year old little girl. We both looove chocolate. I’m in the middle of potty training right now, so that plus the tatrums at this age are my biggest battles being a SAHM. Please come by and visit me at Scamp’s Place and Teen Lit Review (http://teenlitreview.blogspot.com) for some book giveaways.

  25. Hi There, I picked your blog because of the Jesus and chocolate. Two great favs of mine! I love your blog. I think it’s awesome that you are a teacher shining the light of the Lord to these precious children! God Bless You!

  26. I’ve only spent a few moments on your site but like what I see. I’ll be posting on my site asap – I just heard about the UBP so I’m a bit late getting involved.

Your blog name is very interesting. I’m looking forward to reading more of what you’ve written.

Stop by and see me at: http://www.phyllis-sather.com

    Blessings, Phyllis

  27. You have a beautiful family. Me? I am a mother of 2 boys (11 & 9) and a girl (5). I love chocolate, but I love it when it’s combined with peanut butter or caramel. I am also a teacher at a private christian school.

Nice to meet you. Happy Blogging!! πŸ™‚

  28. Hello there! Your blog name caught my attention. With a name like that you MUST be good! How are you tackling the party? Hmmm? It’s HUGE! I’ll take you up on that coffee . . . Ok so I have 3 kids all under 5. Motherhood is crazy hard for me cause I don’t have a naturally domestic bone in my body, but with God’s grace, I’m doing my best. I LOVE chocolate? I don’t suffer from the frustrations of PMS yet since I’m still nursing my baby – but previously PMS are killer, so I’m praying that nursing will delay the return for a long long time. The hardest challenge for me as a mom is not to YELL at my kids when I get frustrated. A new challenge for me every.single.day. I have an intense 4 year old and she uses up all my patience . . . but I enjoy them, I really do. I love most their snuggles, and their laughter. I’ve been married 5 years this July and I throw game night at my house to cut loose and have fun. WHEW! Party on!

  29. When I saw the title of your blog, I knew you were someone that I would like! πŸ™‚
    Your family is beautiful!
    Happy partying!
Come by for a visit sometime!!!

  30. That was a nice picture of your family. It will be fun someday when I can have everyone look at the camera all at the same time. It is difficult to get them both excited about formal pictures at the same time. I will have to get them when I can for now.

  31. I’m a little late for the party, but thought I’d asay hello! I’ve married 17Β½ years and ahve 7 great kids! and I love Jesus and dark chocolate, so I love the name of your blog!
