Aloha Friday

alohafriday5

With this cold we are experiencing on the east coast, just the word Aloha sounds so inviting!  🙂
So it’s VERY cold around many parts of the nation………do you hate the cold, tolerate it, like it or even possibly love it?
I actually like it, I love the outdoors, so I like the challenge of dressing the right way so I can get outdoors and embrace the day.  The other night I went for a power walk when it was 15 out.  I was all layered up, and then put a coat on, hat, scarf and gloves.  By the end of the walk, I actually took my hat off.   But I have a feeling most of you will not like the cold. 🙂
But let me assure you, homemade soup, cozy slippers, a warm fleece blanket and a good book are also appealing.
So enjoy the cold or enjoy a good book this weekend!

Here is a picture of me out enjoying the cold!

  1. Hate the cold. I was just saying it this morning when we were late two days in a row because we need an extra 15 minutes just to get on snow boots, hats, gloves, and snow suites. It is crazy!!!

    I just keep thinking Spring!!!

  2. I don’t mind cold weather while I’m vacationing (at parents home in MN) because you don’t have to deal with daily life in the cold…warming up car, shoveling, etc. But can enjoy the fun parts of cold….skiing, tubing, snow angels 🙂

  3. My blood has gotten thin after 10 years in SC and I have a low tolerance now. I like 40s/50s kind of cold but not this bunk 🙂 I want to just pull out the flannel nightie, wrap myself in a blanket and watch soap operas.

  4. I dont mind the moderate cold, as long as there is no wind. The wind just pisses me off. I dont mind anything between 35 and 70. Other than that its just either too cold or too warm!

  5. Please do not think I am a huge wimp, BUT….when we were in San Diego over Dec and it was in the 40s and 50s I thought I was going to die. I have lived in HI for 4 years and I think 70s are cool temps. Before that I lived in NoVA just outside of the nation’s capitol….and the cold and snow did not bother me. I cannot imagine moving back to the East Coast any time soon!

  6. We choose to live in the Great NorthEast so we can be close to our beloved Adirondacks and our high rated school district so…we put up with the cold. Around here (Albany, NY) we don’t have many days where the temps dip below 10 degrees so it is tolerable. I do enjoy walking in the snow but not the wind!
    Happy Weekend to you!

  7. Oh my, I’m NOT fond of the cold!!! This morning as I was driving Fire to indoor soccer practice, it was 8 degrees outside… I have to be careful not to complain about it though.

I am thankful that my nervous system has the ability to sense the cold!!! 😉

  8. I’m a Florida girl, but I like “brisk” weather. Just cold enough to wear layers. See your breath. Wear leather driving gloves. We rarely get to do any of that here. All the magazine ads and commercials showing hip moms wearing layers? Nope. For me, it’s single layer, sleeveless. Nearly year round. And I just had a pedicure because I . . . well, I’m barefoot right now.

It’s supposed to be “cold” here tonight. Here’s our three day forecast from the local station:

“For Friday night, temperatures fall into the upper 30s with winds out of the north at around 10 mph. Wind chills will be in the low to middle 30s overnight.

For Saturday, temperatures warm into the low to mid-60s under mostly sunny skies.

Sunday, temperatures get up into the upper 60s with lots of sunshine.”

So, cold enough to use the fire pit, but maybe not the fireplace. Unless we open all the doors and windows first. (Which we’ve done before.)

  9. Being Canadian, I can’t say that I hate it as it is a part of life. I do grow very tired of it though. Spring usually can’t come to soon!

  10. Well, living in Texas, we don’t get a lot of seriously cold weather (although it is colder than the norm here right now). And, I used to be kind of okay with the cold until I had lived in Texas for a few year. Living here in these milder temps has made me a complete wimp in cold weather! 🙂

  11. You are right. I do not like the cold…but I love the fall. So refreshing. A brisk walk would be a great way to wake up on a cold day. You look good on those skates too:)
